The Rebel Heart Tour served as Madonna’s tenth global concert tour and a vibrant showcase for her thirteenth studio album, Rebel Heart (2015). Spanning an impressive 82 performances, the tour swept across four continents—North America, Asia, Europe, and Oceania—kicking off on September 9, 2015, in Montreal, Canada, and drawing its final bow on March 20, 2016, in Sydney, Australia.
The visionary behind Madonna’s eight full looks and the entire wardrobe for The Rebel Heart Tour was none other than longtime collaborator Arianne Phillips who served as the tour’s head costume designer and stylist: whats a privilege has been for us to work directly with Arianne, an Oscar nominated designer, on this (and other) projects! Following initial creative discussions with Madonna about the aesthetic direction of the costumes, Phillips assembled a dream team of designers to bring the tour’s bold vision to life. The elaborate, meticulously crafted costumes were the result of collaborations with other fashion powerhouses such as Prada, Nicolas Jebran, Fausto Puglisi, On Aura Tout Vu, Miu Miu, Alessandro Michele for Gucci, Jeremy Scott for Moschino, Murmur, Alexander Wang, and of course us, Lilly e Violetta. The looks were accessorized with pieces from Agent Provocateur and Lynn Ban, among others. This was the first tour where Madonna showcased an extraordinary range of intricate, couture-level ensembles on stage, each meticulously beaded, crafted, and tailored to perfection. The tour’s narrative was divided into four distinct acts—Samurai/Joan of Arc, Rockabilly Meets Tokyo, Latin/Gypsy, and Crazy Years—each with its own unique sartorial identity. It was the beginning of our dream!
Luxury designers Versace, Michael Costello, Nicolas Jebran and Zuhair Murad all created custom pieces for her show. According to a press release from Swarovski 260,000 crystals were used just for the Versace styles alone, and an additional 75,000 were used to adorn nine set pieces featured in the show! In all, it was the sexy-glam we’ve come to expect. Think: leg-baring silhouettes, cool jumpsuits and killer heels. Jennifer Lopez's highly successful "All I Have" Las Vegas residency, which ran for 2 years was a dazzling spectacle known for its elaborate costumes and numerous outfit changes. The wardrobe was a key element of the show's glamour, featuring millions of Swarovski crystals and custom designs from several top fashion houses. The show's costumes were curated by her longtime stylists, Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, who worked with us and other designers for Jlo looks. Donatella Versace designed several signature looks, including a feathered coat and crystal-encrusted bodysuits. Zuhair Murad created three key looks, including a sparkling, nearly-naked catsuit with a bikini silhouette and a teal blue bustier. Michael Costello created pieces such as a black and gold, kimono-inspired jumpsuit. Nicolas Jebran designed a custom nude bodysuit covered in red roses and vines for one segment of the show.
Lilly e Violetta: The brand designed a luxurious, custom floor-length white fox fur coat that Lopez wore during the opening number over a crystal-embellished bodysuit. The fox furs were an integral part of the production, designed to complement the energetic choreography and high-impact visual style of the show.

We had the privilege of working with costume designer Sarah Edwards who divided her time between the eight leading ladies of 2018’s summer blockbuster, Oceans 8. “Most of these actresses are used to being the star of a movie, not having to share that spot with seven others, but they were really respectful of each other.” The calibre of the cast was worthy of respect: Hollywood heavyweights Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway star alongside Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna and Helena Bonham Carter – also made Edwards’s job easier. “We got a lot of help from the fashion world,” she recalls of the costume department bulging with every major fashion brand. “There were a lot of people really interested in being a part of it.” Sarah chose the sarah coat in the sapphire colour in Origin Assured mink: whats a heist!
